I drink my smoothies out of gin glasses.
Now we’ve got that out of the way I need to confess something. I’m not a big smoothie maker or juicing shaker. They enter in to my thoughts rarely and normally after I’ve just eaten a huge cake or when it’s super hot.
Saying that, I think my caution for them comes from the popular ‘Green Juice’. I’ve never tasted a good green juice. As in a proper tasty drink. Not one that taste like a pond…or what I imagine a pond would taste like!
Food needs to taste good. It needs to make you foodgasm. It needs to nourish you.
Personally I think a lot of ‘healthy’ or as I prefer to call it, proper food tastes amazing! You don’t need to dress it up with marketing talk. The problem comes in when you’re used to eating processed food because that changes your taste buds and not for the better.
When you have great quality ingredients, it elevates a meal and makes it in to an experience every single time. And this is what this smoothie does.
It uses seasonal berries. (In my case frozen berries from last Summer that I didn’t want to waste.) Coconut water for added minerals. British honey to offset the tart berries. That’s it.
So this is a back to basics smoothie. A smoothie that you can have any time of the day to get sweet berry kick! All natural ingredients. Nothing nasty. Just delicious natural food!
This smoothie was made listening to The Killers, The Man and with my cat meowing at me for her second breakfast.
- 150g frozen mixed berries (this one had wild bramble berries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries)
- 300ml coconut water
- 1/2 tsp of honey
- Gin glass (optional 😉 )
Let’s get blending!
- Put all of the ingredients in a blender and whizz up until smooth.
- Serve in your favourite glass.
